2. No Hacked or Modded clients are allowed EVER: Mods that give unfair advantages are not allowed.

  • Any suspicion of using a client can earn a temp ban or a permanent ban depending on the situation. Even discussing hacked clients on our servers is worthy of a tempban.
  • Anything outside of a vanilla client that provides an unfair advantage (x-ray, minimap, radars, force fields, speedhacking, better sprint mod, ect.) is considered a modded or hacked client!
  • A detailed list of the mods we do not allow will be provided.
  • If you use mods to increase your FPS or textures like the watermod, it's OK! We just don't like the ones where you modify your character's performance.
  • If you are caught or the administration has suspicion of you using hacks, your ranking and leaderboard scores are subject to be reset to the defaults.
  • Admitting to using a modded/hacked client, even jokingly, will result in a ban
  • Using the macros mod to bind your sprint so you do not have to double press “w” to sprint is not allowed.
  • If you are unsure if a certain mod is allowed or not, as a staff member before using it.
  • This includes modifying files in your .minecraft to give a advantage such as increasing the gamma to give effect of full bright.
  • Binding macros to give you the ability to sprint without tapping W twice is considered hacking and will be dealt as such.
Allowed Mods list:

  • Optifine
  • Shaders Mod or "GLSL Shaders"
  • Toomanyitems
  • Armorstatus
  • Directionhub
  • Multiplayer profiles mod
  • Macros Mod [only for staff since normal members can use it to break rules]
  • Camera Studio
  • Animated Players Mod
This list will update over time.

I highlighted the aspects from the MCSG rules sections. Chad made those rules for a reason.
Every player gets their own cheating way. Wether for mac users to use the caps lock button or for PC users to make their screen so bright without modifying .Minecraft folder. Some, buy a mouse as a razer naga or a corsair and get the fancy shortcuts c:
Well this is not exactly the macro mod, and were not talking about binding sprint to a button, but about binding hotbar numbers to your mouse for a faster responce time

In fact, With the 1.7 update from the default Minecraft setting you can set key binds.

If you find it annoying to verse someone that uses hot keys on a mouse (such as myself), just listen to these reasons about how there is practically no difference:

Alright, it may look more fancy, better and faster. However higher skilled players can still scroll with pin point precision do not complain, as they've learnt how to do it so accurately by perfecting it. Those players would include darkai202, CraftyKratonite just to name a few.

I got annoyed at the fact that people could scroll with extreme accuracy, I couldn't do it properly. So I ended up using number keys, they work the exact same as the whole situation you guys are pointing out. Are they 'illegal'? No. Minecraft has now even implemented a key binding system for every single one of the buttons you'd usually use. For example: hotbar slot 1 is set to '1', yet you can change to any other random button on your keyboard, changing it to the letter 'q' could provide more benefit then the number '1'. Therefore pressing 'q' goes to slot '1' (provided that you've changed your drop key to another number).

As for 'macros', I'm not too sure where you guys are coming from. Are we talking about switching to items faster? Or are talking about where you have a customisable button where when you press it, it casts the rod, then switches to sword automatically without you having to press any other buttons? Because I've never seen anyone do that specifically as most people with hot keys are coordinated enough to do it alone.

Just practice scrolling, I find it extremely easy to go to any slot of my hotbar with just one flick, all it takes is practice.

Dont double post please.

Still, If its not available to everyone then it shouldnt be allowed.
That isn't really how we do things. I wrote a really good description of this a while ago, but that's buried now. I'll have to go from memory.

There is no way to create a perfectly even game for everyone, so we have to draw a line at some point. If we attempted to make everything even as you describe, it would go like this.
  • There would be a standard, easily attainable mouse that you would have to use to play. Anything other than this mouse could potentially give you an advantage and is not allowed.
  • we would have to set a standard for computer specs (the standard would have to be low so that most people could reach it). If your computer doesn't match the specs exactly, you could have an advantage over someone else.
  • We would have to set a standard internet speed (Again, easily attainable) so that no one has faster internet than someone else
While these rules would make the game more fair for everyone, they are not feasible because they are unrealistic and impossible to enforce. Except in some very rare case such as binding W to a sprinting macro, we can't control hardware differences. If this were a console game, people would be much more equal, but it's not. That's just part of PC gaming, some people have a better set up. If there is some way for us to lower the advantage one gains from hardware, we take it (Such as allowing optifine, it makes it so that someone with a poor computer can make up for the advantage presented by someone with a better computer) but usually it's something we cannot control.

You make a good point, but I still cant get to my sword/fns/bow faster then someone with a gaming mouse macro setup, so why not allow the mod? (seeing as the new sprinting feature is in the game)

You can already bind your hotbar slots to whatever you want in vanilla.
