Hello MCGamer Community,
Believe it or not, I've been busy. Actually, a number of MCG staff members have been busy. For the last several weeks, we have been working on a little something that we will release very soon. We have high hopes for this project, and we hope the public is as excited for it as we are.
I've noticed that information is slow to disseminate around here, and often the actual info itself is inconsistent and decentralized; a lot of misinformation gets spread around, or some information gets missed altogether. This also neglects other smaller aspects of the community as well, such as the abundance of give-aways, get-togethers, and organized tournaments that occur all around us yet never get noticed. As a result, a lot of information about events, games, and staff decisions gets overlooked altogether. All of this forgotten information represents nothing short of lost potential.
In an effort to stop this, I started a project called the Current Events Publication, inspired by an idea slasherxtreme had told me of back in August. The Current Events Publication would be MCGamers' official bi-weekly informational publication, posted here on our forums to keep the community informed of the goings-ons around here. News will be reported, events will be announced, and articles will offer a wealth of information to share with our players and moderators alike. Furthermore, this publication would be run entirely by the MCGamer staff, thus taking the burden of autonomy off the shoulders of the higher staff whilst guaranteeing a quality of reporting by MCG staff.
For the past several weeks, I've gathered a team together for the project, recruiting moderators who had strong writing backgrounds, an interest in journalism, and a willingness to go the extra mile. Together, they've worked hard to create the very first issue of the Current Events Publication. And while we hoped to have released on December 28th as part of a late-Christmas present, we now anticipate the first issue to be released to the public within the first few days of 2014.
But without further ado, here is a sneak peak at the MCGamer Current Events Publication, the headline article that we planned to release with the December 28th deadline.
T’is the Season, Let’s Get Festive on MCGamer

It’s that time of year again, folks. The time of snow, and christmas trees, and a fat bearded man crawling down your chimney to leave you an iPhone or a new graphics card. It’s the holidays and the MCGamer Community is celebrating the season. The Christmas season introduced a modified hub for the servers.
The highlight of the hub is a large Christmas tree built over spawn. Players can wander through the snowy environment and climb on oversized gifts, snowmen and other festive decorations. Players also found they had collected a bottomless pile of snowballs while they were offline. Many players were seen having friendly snowball fights under the gentle snowfall. The jolly environment allowed players to temporarily forget their clan rivalries, their bitterness towards a backstabbing teammate, and their competitive natures and take joy in hurling snow at anyone and everyone.
The hub was built by, then later modified by our very own Team Elite.
With most schools on winter break, summer break for people over in countries south of the equator like Australia and the surrounding countries, our server activity has boomed! We’ve been averaging around 150% higher than the normal player count during November. Because of this, the developers of the MCGamer community worked hard to present two more gamemodes for all of you to enjoy this season. One is the new Kit PvP, where you can safely practice your PVP skills without worrying about your stats. The other is the long awaited return of the Survival server! Both of these will be covered in separate articles later in the newsletter.
We hope you’ve had a great Christmas, and from the MCGamer Current Events Publication Team, have a happy New Year! May the odds be ever in your favor.
We hope you enjoyued this sneak peak at the Current Events Publication. Once again, we plan to have the very first issue published within the next few days. The full issue will include more Community News, Staff News, Map News, a number of articles, plenty of pretty pictures, and more!
Stay tuned, Tributes.
