What makes a good map?

When I see there is a good map, there are a lot of things that especially need to be unique:

  • Terraforming (mountains, hills, not a flat land)
  • Several or some buildings that will serve use for chest locations or for other reasons
  • Highly detailed quality. Plain stone brick buildings aren't that amazing, and make the map look unprofessional
  • Unique PvP quality. The combat in the game should be interesting other than your average 1v1.
  • Interesting spawn area. Make the cornucopia detailed like the map. For example, if the map is desert-themed, make the spawn a sand castle or a well, instead of just having a sand floor and 8 chests in the middle
  • Locations to use your bow, like high-elevated areas
  • If the map has trees, try making them customized. In my opinion at least, a map with saplings and bonemeal doesn't make it very detailed unless you place them in a certain way.
  • Hidden areas, traps, and challenges to get to some chests and items
  • People actually like it, as in they will want to play on this map and say 'nah, I don't like that map'
Those are just my opinions, but I feel those kinds of aspects would improve any map :)

A map that has the following:

  • Surrounding trees
  • Leaves around the chests
  • One quarter Factory
  • One quarter Village
  • One quarter Clocktower
  • One quarter debatable Congress Library
  • River separating the unknown and the other 80% of the map
  • The river must be long enough for Zeejayy to kill anyone he drags into it
  • Note: A pink house isn't required, but highly suggested.
Wow Six, I agree 100%!

Great looks, and great gameplay.

For example, if you could mash together SG4 and Avaricia (or maybe Holiday Resort), that would be the perfect map.

That brought a smile to my face.
Ahhhh the memories. Never will I forget classic SG2 with the old group of players. :D
Yeah, neither will I! I definitely won't ever forget some of the matches we had when you were getting closer and closer to me on the LB. We'd stay in the same lobby playing against each other for hours straight.

Well built maps, not where it's hard to get around, for instance, Moonlight lake. Well built map, but it's hard to move around from place to place and the PvP aspect isn't all that good. Same goes for Insanity Cause but that got removed.
A well built map in my opinion would be something like SG4, or TSG2. Good, flat terraforming, just enough chests and it's easy enough to get around and the PvP aspect is a lot funner/better.

Any chance you could check out my Atlantis map I posted in finished maps? Your opinion would be greatly appreciated :3
Sure thing, but can you remind me by sending a PM to me tonight about it. I'm about to play a couple of SG matches. XD
