Welcome all readers To this Helpful (Maybe) thread on how to use the sub-Weapons to your advantage in many situations and ways.

Flint and Steel (Fns)
FnS is one of the most useful sub-weapons out of all of them since it will let your opponent take damage and not be able to sprint but you need skill to be able to use it since people can strafe your fire.

One way to use a flint and steel is when your opponent is in a chest or standing there and light the fire under the opponent so he can't get away.

Teams will be less of a deal with fire. My strategy doing this is to light one person on fire, and then attack the one that isn't on fire because the guy most likely backs away so it will be a 1V1 fight. also you can light both on fire to bow them and then take them.

Light the fire close to the person so they cannot react fast to the fire.

Also my favorite tactic which I made up was (Well I did this out of random and decided to do this) that what I did was eat food while the guy is approaching or I pretend I'm still. Once he approaches I get to my FnS fast and light him on fire (Worked with some people that are good at the games.)

Still you want to watch out for things before using FnS

  1. You can't light fire on slabs (Including Snow slabs) or ice blocks
  2. Obviously don't light people on fire nearby a water source. :p
  3. If it is the last resort just turn around and light him.
Hope this thread helps. Reply to this thread and I like to see your opinions and say if I should make another thread on a certain topic. Thank you for your participation. :)

Edit:
Also if you crouch and light the top of a chest on fire it will be invisible fire and it may be fooled by noobs. Same thing goes with glow stone, glass, and CAKES

Well that is a nice method. Claps123. Well on such maps such as Holiday Resort and Breeze island it is Quite annoying but also I am strong in the water-fighting. :D but thanks for the opinion

Like claps said, doing it close to a water source, but not too close is a great tactical move. As they see water, they'll attempt to run for it, thus their sprint being all wobbly and such you can catch up to them as they make a break for the water. Yes, they may not take the full 3 and 1/2 hearts, but they'd take around 2-3 therefore they are also trapped in this water, if the do jump into like an ocean (like on holiday resort or breeze, simply jump over them then push them towards land, they won't expect it and you'll get a good 2-3 hits depending on connection. It should finish them off, or it might weaken them to a point of 2 hearts depending on what sword you have.

Now for actually placing it, all you really need to know is distancing:

- How good your connection is
- How far you can place the flint&steel
- How far they can hit you from

As I am Tasmanian and the Australian servers are hosted in Sydney my connection has to cross the bass strait to the mainland then up through a state, that may not sound far but it is for a connection. Now I know most people who play MCSG AU are based were the servers are located, they can hit much further than me and I've seen it with my own eyes (@kooksey99). Therefore I need to keep a good 5 block distance when fighting these players then placing flint and steel around 3-4 blocks behind me. As for someone with around the same ping as me, I'd keep a distance of 4-5 blocks and place the flint and steel from 2-3 blocks.
I understand this may seem complicated in some form or another, but it really does improve your standard of playing.

Well I only play on Canadian servers mostly but do some U.S.A servers and the lag/Choppiness and peoples actions seem to differ between the servers for some reason.

My computer is strong in my internet connection but my computer can't take the lag on certain maps on the MCSG servers such as Avarica, Solar Frost, And Icarus which I rarely play

Also my Fov distance is very short so I can't hit very far so I have to place my FnS very close to my target but the negative in this is they will always hit me

Fov distance doesn't differ how far you can hit, it only changes the angle that you view the game from.

A Tip I recommend everyone to use is this. Keep FnS close to your bow or rod. Hit your opponent with a bow or rod once then immediately place FnS on the block in front of them. The knockback from a bow or rod makes it so that their first reaction is to walk/sprint forward. works 99.9% of the time.

Actually you can light ice blocks on fire, it's a glitch. #InvisFire
Was that introduced in minecraft 1.7 because but that is an idea I need to try out. Next time I play Freeze Island I need to see the truth. :3
