New deathmatch arena causes lag?

Forgive me if this is not the right place for this.
Ever since the new deathmatch arena update, me and several other have had serious lag issues when trying to fight. Its not fps, its lag. So hopefully this gets fixed because I like the update!

I think this is because of the sand falling at the side of the arena.

I have had this occur to me several times, while in a match or deathmatch. Typically, I start swinging my sword around, and if you break something, that stops the lag (assuming we're tlking about the same lag). So just break a sand block, and you may be good to go. If not, then sorry I was of no help.

I have been frozen where I would die in the arena due to lag causing me to eventually fall in when the sand under me fell

Ok, thats what I was describing earliar. It happened earliar with both myself and my friend, and he was able to escape the lag by being punched, as it was the start of the game. I died, stuck. I guess it's really luck of the draw of if you're able to go free. There is really no 100% way of getting back to playing without lag, I guess. I'm looking, though, and I'll post if I find it out.

Only played twice ono the 120man servers and I lost both times

It's only in the US servers now. in the 24 player and 48 player servers. When the DM starts you get tp'd to the new arena. So not only in the 120 player servers.
