Steve.

The original Player,

Since the beginning...

Has painstakingly cracked.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
His world...
Once a place of new discoveries and creativity...
Has been turned into an arena of death.
Now you, the new Player,
Must prove your worth in a world that not only belongs to someone else...
But will also try to kill you.
Hey! PokeJosh here. How do I start this...well, how about with my credentials?
I am a Minecraft map builder. Easy enough to say. But if you want to see some of my work, check out my Banjo Kazooie maps: www.youtube.com/user/MusicaJosh?feature=guide
I really wanted to create something that hadn't been done before in the survival games, but also captures all the fun of every map I've ever played on the MCSG servers.
So as I thought about it, I played some Minecraft...and THAT WAS IT! Minecraft! There are so many possibilities with a Minecraft themed map, that I just couldn't resist. And so, Steve's Survival was born.
The backstory here is that Steve, the original Player, has been playing Minecraft for a LONG time. So long in fact, that he's gone a little nuts. So he builds a sort of death arena around many of his own structures and crafts, and invites some of his favorite new Players to come on into his world...only to find themselves pitted against each other. To the death.
This map is 'loosely' based on vanilla Minecraft Survival Mode, although many parts of the layout were sculpted with WorldEdit, Single Player Commands, Biome Painter, and MCEdit. Included is every Biome that comes with a naturally generated Minecraft structure, and much of everyone's favorite biome...forest. ;) Below are some of the natural and unnatural features of this map. I hope you enjoy!
The Cornucopia
The Forest
The Great Tree
Inside the Great Tree (Parkour to the max!)
The Water House
Beta 1.7 Arc
'Floating' Island (Below)
I hope you can see how much effort has been put into this map. It's not just a few things slapped onto some vanilla Minecraft terrain generation. Let me know your thoughts, and if you think this map could be worth it upon completion, and I will keep posting updates, and eventually a trailer with some more features shown.
You're actually almost right about that! My advice though, is to read the thread.
People don't really care about the backstory. What they care about is the looks and gameplay, which this map lacks in both. Some of the build look decent, but overall, the map is sub-par.
I would recommend you add custom terraforming, using plugins such as world edit and voxelsniper, and to stick to one biome.
There's plenty of gameplay. I know how hard it must be for you to tell, considering the fact that you haven't played it yet.
And terraforming with WorldEdit has been a major part of this map, to make everything look nice. :) I think the biggest problem is seemingly that the map is Minecraft themed. Is there a problem with that theme? Of course there wouldn't be as much terraforming in this map. But I did include some, mostly to simulate a few places that have Minecraft beta terrain generation.
Other than that, what do you think of the custom builds we have created, such as the Cobblestone Castle, Library Maze, Dungeon, Water House, Great Tree, Helicopter, Real Life House, Jungle Tree House, Tower of Notch, the Cornucopia? And what else might you suggest we build, considering the theme? (I will be posting six more custom builds in the very near future.)
Well, everything is great except the water house.
Even though some of the stuff you made looks pretty good. But the map lacks a theme which it should have.
I'm sorry , but I think you shouldn't make a map on a generated world , not creative . + People wont like to play the map ( me neither ) If its randomly generated world . I like some of the buildings though ^^
I promise that starting out with a randomly generated Minecraft world is not what this map will feel like. I did, however, try to capture the feel of playing Minecraft in a world where someone has created so many structures, explored so many caves, that you just want to see everything. And that curiosity can kill you.
