I can only think of 2 ideas. 1 of which would have to change the mcsg server plugin so... That's not gonna happen :) (It was to eliminate afk players after 5 minutes or so) my other idea is that the podiums somehow disappear. Not sure how, but after like 30 seconds in-game they could be pulled away, forcing afk players away from corn. However, some people may choose to camp at spawn while everyone stays below it, and if anyone else tries to do that, it's a simple fistfight to knock them off. They would have no threat for the rest of the game that someone will kill them whilst they loot spawn, and they can continue doing this for several nights, because nobody will get to them. This, I think, is the main unfortunate flaw in the unreachable corn idea, and I can't think of a way to solve it :(
That's what I was just thinking. I would just camp corn and never go down.

When Minecraft gets updated to 1.5, won't there be a thing where special chests emit a redstone signal depending whether or not it has been opened? With a bit of creativity and fiddling with redstone, you may be able to figure out a way to, perhaps, spill lava over the chests and land around the chests, making them inaccessible. Or something else cool, like having pistons push blocks over the chests making them inaccessible 30 seconds after somebody has left corn (tripwire/pressure plates on doors that provide exits from corn. Gah, just be creative, somethings gotta work.

I love the skylands idea, in fact i had thought of an idea similar myself involving making an ancient greek sky kingdom with the new quartz blocks, but of course this is quite different from steampunk, so good luck with that :)

Anyway, just don't make the same mistakes as I did with Breeze (need i point them out?), and as a member of Team Vareide, i'm quite sure you are very capable of making something awesome. Make sure the floating islands look nice, maybe having the stone lead up to a nice curved tip at the bottom of each island. Maybe have vines or waterfalls hanging and flowing off the islands for a nice look. If something doesn't look right, try building it again, taking or adding details where necessary. Just make it classy and original, and don't quit half-way through the job :)

Didn't we all :(
I guess I'll just have to keep it the classic way:eek:

Yes, but my skills with redstone are.. questionable. I feel if it gets too complicated, it'll be more trouble than its worth:p Good ideas though! Well, its not exactly steampunk, it could be classified as it though:p It's more fantasy, medieval. The only problem is, I'm not sure they'd fit the scene of a survival games map. We'll see:p. Thanks for your ideas:p

Thanks guys:p How would you feel about a survival games map set on sky islands? I know how to create them so they look really nice and realistic, as if theyve been ripped from the ground. My only concern is the current Skylands map. But that's random generated terrain, and I think I could do it a lot better - no offence to the builders :3. Awesome builds - aslong as their fantasy based they should all look nice:p

I agree there. Breeze island drives me insane. - Yet another reason to set my map on skyislands. It would put a stop to these half hour chases across water and grass plains.

How would you feel about a cornucopia that you cannot get back to? For instance, its set on a sky island high above all the others. There are several chests in the middle. But once you drop down, you can't get back up. I do like this idea, as I really dislike it when teams of 4+ just guard the cornucopia 24/7. I do, however, need a work around for this. If someone was afk/didnt jump down, then... wait for them to starve?:l
The only problem with this is the reason you designed this, campers. People would decide not to leave corn at the start and stay there the entire game untill refill.

The way to get around this, maybe a redstone timer that after 2-3 minutes drops potions of instant damage, killing the remaining players, this would also help because people with bad computers will have to leave so the wont crash due to the lag created by the redstone.
- Much less tier 2 chests, many more tier 1's (This makes it difficult for experienced players to find a route that's best, giving inexperienced players a chance.)
Sorry, i think i would have to say no to this(no mater how much i want it)...just look at the "What do you think of SG5" thread -.-

I do like that idea actually, it would be hard to pull off though. I think I'm just going to keep it a normal corn. Simplicity is sometimes best. Anyway, the fact that you can hit people out of the map at pretty much anytime, gives tanked out players a huge disadvantage.
Another idea I had, is implementing enchanting... Or Enchanted weapons in dispensers that are extremely hard to reach (Life gambling parkour) I'm not sure about it though. I wouldnt make the weapons overpowered. I just think enchanting would add a whole new level to MCSG, but the staff seem to be against it...

I know what I hate: Solar Frost. It's such a nooby map :p

Anyway in all seriousness I like a map with loads of secrets and things to discover, I also enjoy a quick match. Terra forming is also nice, as I'm a terra-former myself :p

If you're planning on making a map where you can fall down into the void/lava then you could add vines all over cause it would be hilarious hanging off some vines all game just so you can win :3 'plz no' as you see somebody going to break the vines :D

Okay, sounds good:p I kind of suck at terraforming XD But I have a method of making sky islands, they turn out pretty nice:p. About secrets? Do you mean easter eggs, or hidden dispensers, or..?
