Coming Out - My Opinion

I do t even know who to respond to at this point, but this is something I've noticed. It's mostly mods who are coming out. However, people have said that they made a post tree because it's a supportive community. Well, just how supportive are we if we need a position of authority where nobody will say something had about you (unless you're DQ god bless) to come out about yourself. Just think about it.

I'd also like to make it clear, that I fully support you coming out.

I completely agree. Being gay is normal to me and a lot of people. Im not making a thread saying I like girls. I accept gays for who they are but we don't need to know your business. I understand it may make you feel better coming out but you don't need to feel obligated to do so. Do it if it makes you fee better but you don't need to. Im not saying that in a mean way. Why can't we all treat each other like regular people. Stop putting labels on yourself or others.

I can care less if you are gay, straight, black or white. Look at people as just a person not a gay person or straight person. What you do in private shouldn't be announce to the world. Coming out to family and friends is fine but the whole world doesn't really need to know. Its only a big deal if you make it a big deal and its not a big deal. I love everyone for who they are <3

There's always going to be homophobic people. No amount of gay rights parading will stop them from being homophobic. It's the same story with racism. You just need to stop caring about what other people think of you.

Here's an interesting thought:
Don't ridicule homophobic people. We all grew up in a society in which homophobia was allowed, and even encouraged. Even today, the term "gay" is still often used synonymous with "stupid." There's no need to be cruel to people who are simply holding on to their old societal beliefs, and are incapable of changing them rapidly.

The same thing happens with racism. We can all agree that racism is wrong; however, we can also all agree that racism still occurs to this day, despite society deeming it wrong and completely immoral.

I'm not saying homophobia isn't wrong, but don't become agitated when someone is homophobic; society needs time.

It's not about coming out and telling people you're gay.. it's about accepting ones self and feeling comfortable with it. I came out not long ago because I was ready, I am proud of who I am and I want to share that with the people I care about.

What do you mean by "We started out straight" ?
