Today’s update brings the usual set of bug fixes, aimed to fix some of the annoying issues that arose last patch (*cough* lobbies *cough*), and a few behind the scenes fixes and performance increases for the servers. However what we’re really excited to show is the new Disguise system!
With this update we have released the new and improved Disguise system. We weren't happy with the quality of the old disguise names (xXMrsNatureXx was a highly contended name, i’m sure). While i won’t bore you with the details, what you guys will begin to see now will be names that are unpredictable and don’t follow silly patterns as they used to, so you won't see anything like xXMrsNatureXx, MrABCD99 or xxChemistry again. Names such as Cronite and Itrara are among a few examples of names the new system is capable of creating (For those interested, here’s a list of 200 names i generated as a test: http://.com/VfSpzSua). The goal we set out to achieve was to have disguised names blend in, and i'm happy to say i believe we've achieved that.
“But Rusty”, you cry. “Names weren't the only issue! People still don’t have skins when they’re disguised!”.
Tada! Now when a player is disguised a random skin is given to them, which will appear in the game and in the tab list. With disguised skins and shiny new names, we finally set out to find and fix the few ways of finding out the true identity of a player. We fixed those that we found, but if we've missed something be sure to report it on the bugtracker at https://github.com/MCGamerNetwork/Issues/issues! Between the previous visibility fixes, the new disguise system and disguised players being given skins, users using the disguise system will be in for a far smoother ride.
Other orders of business include mojang releasing 1.8.3. We highly recommend that you upgrade to 1.8.3 as it has various performance boosts and bug fixes. We will be updating the server to 1.8.3 and adding it’s related bugfixes and changes in the near future.
As for the future: We have a few things in the pipeline. Don't worry, we haven’t forgotten about the leaderboard update. Our favourite developers Gideon and Subv3rsion have been working hard on the system to provide an awesome experience for you guys, helping you to see your progress and ranking on the server. Our head dev Devin has been working on an update to ZedChase as part of a large project of revamping our gametypes to bring them up to the standard we are aiming for in the future.
The disguise system is just the tip of the iceberg for what we have planned, don’t you worry. That’s all for now though, Hope you enjoy guys!
