The problem here is not a lack of moderators, but the disproportional amount of moderators which identify with the US and AU regions. As of now, there are about 12 European staff, and as most CA mods are also active on US it's hard to get a figure for CA.

But that's where the problem lies. We cannot simply deny those applying from well-moderated regions even if their apps are up to scratch, as that is unfair. However, we cannot lower the standards or make exceptions for those applying from Europe or even Canada because we need more moderators from those regions, as it may lower the quality of moderating in the region and make the whole process redundant, and we sure don't need more people complaining about the moderators.

Before you tell me, yes moderators from other regions can moderate these 'problem regions' however, like in my case, factors such as timezones and 450 ping can make moderation difficult, let alone if I wanted to play! Moderators do already moderate other regions, such as the large amount of US moderators which moderate EU and help with the cleansweeps, but moderators based in these regions are of course better suited to the moderation of said region.

We're working on it, but it's not as simple as accepting more EU and CA moderators.

I think it's that many moderators wait till moderator meetings to resign so they can say goodbye to everyone and such. I doubt anyone would be that distraught over not getting senior mod :p

Reven86 I bet if you made an alt account then applied with the same application you'd get it.

Cleansweeps are only so effective though, and whether their making an actual dent in hacker numbers or no, there need to be more measures to have a greater impact. Privatizing cleansweep may be a plausible solution, as I am sure there are hackers tthat also regularly check the forums.

Regarding the lack of EU and CA mods, encourage any European or Canadian candidates you know to apply. I know from personal experience that the CA servers are decently abundant in hackers and less so in Moderators. I cannot speak on behalf of EU at this point, but I used to go on small sweeps myself and I wwould be surprised by the great number of hackers I would find. While that was two or three months ago, I've heard the numbers are no better now.

Moderator region flexibility is something I'm quite interested in. You'd assume that if there were to be a person that had a decent enough internet (~100ms ping) to most regions, that they may be a person of interest regarding Mod candidates. That way, they can moderate their native region, yet still catch hackers in other regions upon request.

I actually considered that once, but if they did an IP check and found out it was me, I'd prob get banned lol.
