So, you have all seen the thread about stats being reset. In my opinion this thread did not give anywhere near enough detail about the consequences of a Yes vote.

here's the thread posted by Col_Star : http://www.minecraftsurvivalgames.c...leaderboards-reset-with-newest-update.139371/

The following KEY arguements from the threads comments with a more valid opinions of No's point of view displayed here and how MCSG should deal with Polls (G33ke 's thread.)

LEAST BIASED OPINION

Here is G33ke Said:
Please take this seriously. It happened before with the chest update, and it doesn't need to happen again. A week with it wasn't going to be enough to persuade so many people, nobody likes change right away. It was a decision the community as a whole didn't deserve to make.
Don't get me wrong, it's super awesome the community has such a say in so much, but the numbers mean nothing if the reasons or intentions of these numbers is misguided or misunderstood.
I'm not saying there wasn't good arguments against that chest update - I'm not saying anything about my opinion on this leaderboard reset now at all - I just find it frustrating that the whole community has been left to make these major decisions instead of people who actually know what they're talking about. Taking away leaderboard statistics is something most people don't fully even understand the impact of, especially younger players in-game who haven't read this forum topic or really thought about it beyond "it's unfair to old players"/"it's beneficial to me." It's in my honest opinion that many people don't even understand how much better they may feel being memorialized, instead of constantly fighting the incoming wave of wins by others just to keep up. Equally so, I believe many who want the reset and are voting all for it may blindly be doing so with this thought that they could become the next number one player, when obviously, they can't all be that.

I'm not stating whether or not I'm for or against the reset. All I'm saying is to take poll results, in terms of the verdict, with a grain of salt. There are so many other factors, such as votes to support a youtuber, or votes without any actual thought other than personal gain, etc... Look at the arguments proposed over anything else. You cannot expect much of the younger playerbase to have arguments of equal quality on a subject such as psychology as an adult, let alone potentially an actual psychologist. Similarly, a game community cannot be expected to make intelligent balance decisions unless they are within a competitive side of the community (which is still questionable at times.) or a game designer themselves. There is a reason other games ignore the extreme backlash after a nerf to a popular weapon. It's not because they are wrong and refuse to admit it, it's because most people don't know what the heck they're talking about. The reality is that nobody will care in a month and it was to the benefit of the game in the long term.

A poll will not always reflect how people will actually feel about it in the long run. A poll represents the opinions of everyone right now. A well formulated argument or response represents the thoughts of someone informed.

When it all comes down to it, I always think about it quite simply. Would anyone still hold any grudges about the new chest system if it happened? Unless it was atrocious, I honestly believe many would have forgotten a long time ago. And the fuss wouldn't have been unnecessary. There would have been an improved system that ultimately leaves many less frustrated over small quirks in our current system, frustrations they never realized existed. It could breath life into chest routes and the game as a whole. And the reality is that when people voted on that poll, they never took into consideration all the small annoyances or problems with our current system, because they don't stand out enough to them. This does not mean they don't matter.

Finally, just to make this clear - This does not mean that I believe looking at only forum responses and tallying them is better. The key is picking out the arguments/responses that are of quality, and not of bias/etc. Decisions about the evolution of the servers and their features should not be based on a tally system, what really matters is "what is the stronger argument," or rather, "what are the upsides and downsides we can afford to take." There is nothing wrong with including community thoughts in your argument. However, community thoughts should never be a decider or tie breaker on their own. It's never a simple "more than 50% votes = +1 point for red team." The argument should always consider the reasoning behind these votes.

NOW TO A MORE BIASED BUT RELEVANT
OPINION ON VOTING NO.

Here is what Mr_Gears said
This post is for the MCGamer Admins. (Col_StaR, AlpakaWhacker, Dave , ChadTheDJ and whoever else.)

You guys need to realize that this is going to fix nothing. First off because nothing is broken and why are you trying to make something that some people want? The in-game poll is tainted because of TheCreeperFarts making his newest video. All of his fans and subs will vote "Yes" simply because he said yes. The point I'm trying to get across to you all, is that this isn't want we, the people want. We don't want more hackers and more people boosting. To be quite frank, your staff does a crappy job at what they do. I go on the Official Team Speak server to get a mod to help me with a hacker. I get either ignored or I get the response "I'm busy." Fix your staff before you start adding more problems to the server. The hacker problem is at an all time high right now. When I first joined MCSG, I would see 1 hacker every 10 games or so. Now, I see 3+ every game. Fix what needs to be fixed.

Also, if you have a problem with my opinion, PM me. I'd be glad to talk to you guys over Team Speak about this.

THEN ONE SHOWING THE NEGATIVES OF SAYING YES

Finally Here's what I had to say:
So, anyone else noticed that the majority of the yes voters are players that barely even played mcsg and have extremely bad stats?

I agree 100% with what Mr_Gears wrote. this is bs!

You can't seriously reset stats. People have played this server for years trying to get thier stats good, its not their fault that new players wanna join, and how cares we don't daily and weekly leaderboards... If you tried hard enough you could easily get to have is so that the current stats update. HIVE DID IT.

All the top players, have had to get their stats. Whether they started from day one or not. Examples of this would be people such as joethepro15 and bcfcAnt , they both started when the top players had over 2000 wins. Joethepro15 now has 3600 wins and is rank 4. bcfcant has 2500ish wins and is rank 20... THEY BOTH DID IT.

As I said the start all the yes voters are people with bad stats. People Who don't donate and frankly couldn't give to backsides about the people have spent their years watching MCSG AS WE KNOW NOW develop.

The Top Page on MCSG are frankly idols that work to show of our server. e.g. Huahwi and Gravey4rd and you're saying you are gonna reset stats to give bad players who cant even bother to buy a stat reset, let alone donor. This WILL Cause huge problems MCSG WITHIN YOUR OWN COMMUNITY. ITS THE OLD PLAYERS, THE PEOPLE WHO PLAY ALOT, AND THE DONATORS WHICH ARE MCSG, NOT THE NEW PEOPLE THAT COULDN'T GIVE A DONKEYS BACKSIDE.

....mcsg lets not make ANOTHER bad decision, please. Listen to the people that actually care..

DO NOT RUSH YOUR SELVES INTO A DECISION MCSG, YOU WILL LOSE THE REAL MCSG IF STATS ARE RESET!

The reason of this thread is because I believe that MCSG did not put anywhere near the amount of Detail into explaining the consequences of The Stats Reset. Please Do not delete this thread, I just wanted to help make people more aware... If you feel as if any content of this thread should not be displayed Edit it out, plz don't delete it as it is valid.

Majority of people voting yes are either new and don't really care, but think 'why not, we get a chance of getting high on the leaderboards'.

People who want to boost/hack to get #1 (which will 1,000% happen).

People voting no consist of people such as:

People who play MCSG on a daily basis, who care about MCSG.
People who have put time and effort into playing MCSG.

I believe if they got reset, you would get a lot of new players, at the same time you'll be losing a lot of 'well known respected players'. Why would you want to do that to us? The people who have supported you since we started. "Out with the old, in with the new?" Because that's what it's going to be like.

People voting 'YES' just to get a chance of getting higher on the leaderboards. Remember, in two years time, if you're a high rank, expect it to end up as NOTHING. If they can do it now to us, why won't they do it again.

Let's not make another thread on this. If you have an opinion you felt wants to be heard, but it on Col_StaR's front page thread or put it on one of the many existing threads that says the exact same thing. I'm glad you are willing to express your opinion but I don't feel as if yet another thread like this was needed.

Plus, I voted yes for this and my stats aren't terrible. They aren't the best, but they aren't bad...

My view is why not? I won't be disappointed either way. Keep this in mind, your stats will be saved on q seperate leaderboards anyway. If this doesn't happen, your stats may not be logged here and if you end up quitting there may not be proof that you were ever on the top of the leaderboards.

The reason this is being suggested is not to give everybody an equal shot at the leaderboards, well... That isn't the main reason at least, the main reason is just to refresh MCSG. Yes. It is possible to get high up on the leaderboards nowadays but do you know how much time that takes? I play a lot of MCSG. More than most people, yet I only have about 600 wins combined out of 3800 games total over 2 years of play. To get that high up on the leaderboards you literally have to make MCSG your life. This means skipping schoolwork to play, dismissing opportunities to hang out with friends in real life. If you really want to make it up there it will ruin your social life for a while.

So again I ask, why not? If this happens everyone will eventually adjust and most likely even like it down the road, but if weekly/monthly leaderboards can be implemented with our current system I'm sure more people, including me, will lean toward keeping our current system.

I think it would be better honestly for everybody to keep this current leaderboard system because it will satisfy the most people without creating situations where people will get really angry at the staff and start calling us out for no reason, but I really think the community needs to start being more open minded. You complain to us that we don't change up our game type enough, but when we propose change you just reject it and then go back to complaining.

This thread, is basically just giving more points on the no vote as i believe Col_Stars thread gave literally nothing. It gives both positives and negatives, however I think its unjust to leave it unexplained to the 'newer' minds on MCSG. It is a constructive thread which just furllu informs people of some very VALID reasons why to keep the leaderboards. Im not complaining, just informing.

I voted Yes.

Now before you bash on me and some stuff along those lines, let me say something. I'm not new. I don't care if my stats are bad. I have been playing for two years now (almost) and just recently hit 500 wins.

*I'm not gonna say how I feel about it again. I've said it about 5 times already in other threads.*

**I said so you know that not just new players voted yes.**

I voted yes. Come at me.

Like I've said before, face the facts. mcgamer will not notice the minority that leave. Honestly, not even HALF of MCGamer cares about their stats. In fact, if the stats are reset you really don't lose much. Other then the hard work - which, you should realize that is a good thing.

If there are people high up on the leaderboards, who have quit and don't play MCGamer anymore, bam. They're out of the picture. A good 100 people will be eliminated from the mix, and technically the thousands of games you have played will benefit you. The next 10 days will allow you to secure yourself a spot in the top xxx. Sure, tryhards and hackers will be about. Aren't they always?

TL;DR, the better you are will just secure you a possibly higher spot then you are now. This can benefit you.

There have been plenty of threads about this going on recently, and this thread truly looked at both aspects of the situation, however, I may feel as if I am ok with it. But I think that you still will be able to look at your old statistics when the new leaderboards come back.

Sorry but did you even read the thread? The whole point was changes like this have happened before (chest update) no one liked it, you know why? The majority of the mcsg players do not know what their doing; I.E 12 year olds who think they'll get perfect ratios and stuff.
But in all honesty, if half of mcgamers good player base quit, then it would be worse than if half of the bad(no offense) players quit.
Hear me out here, you see these good players have motive to help the community, they're active, try participate, etc.
But the other side, however, simply plays for a month, and quits. Good players stay bad players go, that's always how this community worksNOW BEFORE YOU BRING UP SO CHEESY INSPIRATIONAL <snip> ABOUT WANTING TO BE THE VERY BEST no.
That's not how it works, maybe a couple of them do, but the majority do not.
I guarantee if you were to ask experienced and active players, the majority would say no to this poll.
All I have to say, before you quote me you must realize if you argue with me I don't care.
