Oh god why...

I was on SG Ancient Japan, and I got some iron leggings and a stone sword at the start. I then proceeded to massacre the people at the cornucopia, scraping in about 5 kills. Yet when I do /records Raddishdew, it says my most kills per round is still 1.
Is this a common bug?

yep, only old players have real killstreaks.

I see. I've been playing since SG beta, so I'm guessing at one point the Most Kills in a Round just stopped working.
