After waiting almost 2 years, I'm ready to buy my first gaming pc, how exciting! Because I am investing a lot of my money saved up, I want to ensure that the computer that I am buying will provide me sufficient preformance playing Minecraft.

Here are the specs of the computer that I am looking at:

Intel i5 4460
Gigabyte G1 GTX 970 GPU
8 Gigs of RAM
500GB SSD
Windows 10
Coolermaster hyper evo 212 cpu cooler

These are all of the specs that I know of, please don't ask me insane questions, for I am not very educated in the vamping computer category. If you guys could give me an estimate of how many fps I would get while using optifine and while using optifine with fraps to record.

Much thanks,
Sam

If all you're gonna be playing is MC then you could spend half the money than what you'll be getting and still have adequate stuff to play and record. This means you could record 60 fps with shaders on xD

Pardon my double post, but do you have any recommendations on what I should look into then?

It's all completely dependant on what you're wanting. If you want to be set for the future on recording and playing other games while having a bit of security then what you have is fine. Otherwise, try some of the lower end nvidia cards or AMD if you're on a budget (though I'm less familiar with their models). I used to have a 650m and could play with optifine stable 120 fps, when maxed it would jump to 240 fps and this was with 8 render distance. I never tested recording but I'm sure it would have probably recorded 720p 30 fps

You're PC should run just fine with those specs. My specs are a little more upgraded then yours and i get about 1000fps on Minecraft.
