This forum is constantly being spammed with threads complaining about lag - people posting threads asking for help regarding lag will include little to no information in their post, and eventually this section gets cluttered up with the same, vague questions that go unanswered because the original user has either fixed the problem him/herself, or they are too ignorant to include the information that is needed to help (usually the latter). Even if you think you don't need to post the information, it can't hurt to give all the information that is required (a.k.a. do it anyways).

We can only help you if you are willing to help yourself. The people who have been helped the most are the ones who have gone through some troubleshooting steps in the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions). Try doing some digging yourself before creating a thread asking for help.

Users who do not have a premium Minecraft account (have not bought the game) will receive little to no support. You cannot steal a bike from your local bike shop and ask for a free 1-year warranty. If you haven't bought the game and you post a thread asking for assistance regarding logging in to any of the MCSG servers, your thread will be closed. You are on your own if you do not buy the game.

Here is the information that we usually need to properly help you diagnose the problem. The information needed is dependent on the situation.
Before you ask for help regarding lag, determine yourself if you think your computer can actually handle Minecraft at the settings you have.

1. What is your average FPS (press F3 in-game and look at your FPS for a couple of seconds, then make an estimate)?
2. How old is your computer and what processor do you have (for Windows: Computer -> Properties)?
3. How fast is your download/upload speed (speedtest.net)?
4. How good are your packets (post the grade of your packet test; pingtest.net)?
5. Are you experiencing FPS lag or server lag (more information below)?
6. What server (if applicable) were you playing on?
Bugs should be emailed to bugs<at>minecraftsurvivalgames.com so that others cannot view the bug and use it to their advantage. Thank you!

Tips:
a) If you want to apply for moderator, go here.
b) Emailing Chad will be a waste of your time because he is extremely busy with his own life and other, more important things regarding MCSG. Don't be offended; keep in mind that he's just a regular guy like you trying his best to make MCSG a better place.
c) Tagging developers in feature requests or general questions won't get you anywhere. It's best to include all the information that you think is required in your original post and have them get back to you.
d) Are the servers down, or do you have any other important news regarding a servers' status? Make a post in General Support about it, and be sure to include the server(s) in question.
e) If you know how to solve a commonly-asked question and you know that the solution isn't in the FAQ, go ahead and make a guide in the appropriate section! You'll get recognition for it and likes will flood in likes crazy :).
f) If you live in the US and you want to play on an AS server, chances are you'll get server lag! Play on the servers that are closest to you!

Things to try before you ask for help:
a) Re-install Minecraft.
Mods are usually the main reason why you can't start up the game successfully. Try re-installing.
b) Install OptiFine.
OptiFine increases your FPS dramatically. Installing that will boost your FPS, usually doubling the amount of FPS you usually get. You can also zoom in by holding CTRL, helping you identify a player before you go in for the kill.
c) Look around the FAQ.
There are so many threads in this forum that have questions that have already been answered thoroughly in the FAQ. In doing so, you are saving yourself and others time. Please be considerate to people :).

General questions about the Survival Games should be brought up in the "Survival Games Discussion" forum. You'll get more related support there, and it will help keep the forums organized.

If you have anything you'd like to add in this post, go ahead and send me a PM :). I'll review it and see if it can be added into this post.

tl;dr
We can't help you if you won't help yourself. Do some digging before you ask commonly-asked questions.

Thanks,
From every single staff member in MCSG, as well as most of the people in the MCSG community.

EDIT: Please do not open a thread about lag or ghosting unless it has become a serious issue.
