The 4790k will perform faster and allows you to overclock it, which can make use of the cooler you plan to get. However, it does cost about $20 more and uses an older architecture. The 6500 will offer more upgradability but I believe it performs slightly worse than the 4790k. It's completely up to you.

so the 6500 intel quad core performs worse than the single core 4790k?

You really don't need an i7. Get a 6500 or a 4690k. Should bring your total to about $1000 or under.

ordering all parts as i type this thanks for your help, total came out to 1,060 because i bought a new headset (mine broke)
